First impressions have a way of enduring. No matter who you are, who you have been in the minds of people will continue to shape their perception of you. For this reason, it is often more difficult to demonstrate the work God has done in your life among familiar places and friends than it is among those who have known you in no other way. They can’t believe Jesus came from heaven because they have known him from the neighborhood. How can He be more than that? It’s a struggle we can understand every time we can’t seem to get out from under our own histories.
