Why do we follow Jesus? Is it because we have come to believe in who He is or is it because we have ideas of what He can do for us? For many gathering on those ancient Judean hillsides, their curiosity had been piqued by His miracles. But they wanted to see more. In fact, many couldn’t see past their individual moments and realize that God himself was with them. They couldn’t think of eternity or the impact of what His incarnation might mean. They just wanted to see what He would do. This is the “lack of faith” Jesus often spoke about.
