81. Since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say (John 5:47).
To believe is a choice one makes in the depths of his spirit. When one chooses to believe, he cannot be easily dissuaded. The same is true for those who choose not to believe. I have been amazed to see the effort people will make to not believe what they don’t wish to accept. In spite of overwhelming evidence, those who have chosen not to believe will hold their ground. This reality of faith, or the lack thereof, turns up again and again in Scripture. It’s the wall we build that we refuse to climb. We don’t want to believe or pay the cost of believing and no amount of proof will change our minds.
