Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 7

7. But his own did not receive him (John 1:11).
Is this the reality God must always face? Having given prophecy and promise to His people, he is still rejected when those promises are fulfilled. Those who should have known Him chose not to acknowledge Him. Those with the greatest knowledge of Him used that knowledge to justify their rejection of Him. While those who stood simply on the perimeter often managed to see that He was exactly what was promised. If ever there‚Äôs an argument for the simplicity of the Gospel it is this–those who demand intellectual satisfaction are never satisfied, but those who simply believe will find what they are looking for.
