Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 333

  1. “Who is it that you’re looking for” (John 20:15)?

Is there a more important question any of us could answer? This is Jesus’ query. In Mary’s moment, would she have said, “Jesus,” knowing that He was dead? Instead she seems to be looking for whoever took Him away. So maybe this gardener is the one–that seems to be her thought. But it’s His question that wafts through the centuries to every man, woman, and child since. Who is it that you’re looking for? Mary is within inches of her best possible answer and she will discover that momentarily, but others seem to be looking in wrong places, not even “warm” if we’re playing a child’s game. But everyone is looking for Him, even if they’ve yet to know who He might be.
