31. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit (John 3:6).
There’s something powerfully different in those who are born again. The flesh no longer defines or dictates life. A new reality is entered, one that is guided by the Spirit. Perhaps we give too much focus to our continued fleshly pursuits in trying to understand discipleship. Yes, we must act with consistency for faith without works is dead, but an existence of the Spirit must take on different, additional, and separate elements. To follow Christ is to understand life on a different level and to recognize the eternal nature of the soul. This is the new path those who follow Christ are to pursue.
