Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 157

157. “He listens to the godly man who does His will” (John 9:31).

As the formerly blind man tries to explain his sudden sight, he offers a glimpse into his own theology. Who can do miracles? Who does God listen to as they request His extraordinary intervention? It’s the godly man. Yes, there are times that God may work miracles through those who have lost their way a bit, but it makes sense that God wouldn’t draw attention to those who would use that attention with selfish intent. So those who want God to use them in their communities need to prioritize righteousness. This is whom God will listen to and use for His glory.
