146. “I am not seeking glory for myself, but there is one who seeks it and he is the judge (John 8:50).
Here is the focus of a servant of God. He does not seek glory for himself, but he recognizes that there is One who seeks it. Glory shouldn’t simply be seen in the sense of praise or attention. To glorify God is to make Him known to help others see Him. This is Jesus’ mission–to reveal the father. In John 17’s prayer, Jesus says that He has glorified the Father, and know the Father will glorify Him, or reveal who He really is. In fact, He goes on to say that we will glorify Him in our lives, and then He will glorify us–reveal us as children of God. So we glorify God when we reveal Him, when we demonstrate His love, and when we help others discover that He is real.
