120. On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Christ” (John 7:40-41).
Quite a difference in these two reactions to Jesus. Some are impressed with His words and believe He should be listened to while others have decided that He is the One all of us should follow. Which are we? Are we enamored with Jesus’ words, as though His insights can fill our 140-character tweets each day, or do we see more? Are we ready to follow Him with all of our hearts, hands, and feet? There are many who say He is the Christ, but they treat Him like a prophet. They respond to others with His words, but they don’t respond to Him with their lives. How we answer this question, in both word and deed, demonstrates our destiny.
