114. Still, many in the crowd put their faith in Him (John 7:31).
Beware of crowd thinking. In this particular moment, the crowd is turning on Jesus. In fact, only the Father’s sovereign protection keeps them from attacking Him here, but still many believed in Him. In the midst of the shouts of rejection, people believed. Like the thief on the cross who would later believe while others were taunting Jesus, these “many” saw what the accusers missed. They realized who Jesus is and put their faith in Him. This, then, is proof that one who looks beyond the attitude of the crowd can see what is true and find better direction for his own life.
