106. For even his own brothers did not believe in him (John 7:5).
This small statement says a great deal about the life of a Christ-follower. Those closest to us always have the longest journey to believing what has occurred within us. They have seen the “before” and will be reluctant to believe in the “after.” They will struggle to believe that someone they know has found something that has eluded them. They will expect the old to re-emerge and may even wish it to be true. This is why many new believers must find new friends in the body of Christ because the old friends will continually be looking for their “old” friend. But what a powerful day it is when those closest to us decide to put confidence in who we are becoming.
