Notes from the Journey with David – 66

66. Who Am I, O Sovereign Lord (2 Samuel 7:18).
A leader must repeatedly remind himself of who he is not. People will surround a leader and repeatedly proclaim his greatness, treating him with special care and causing others to admire him. Such prominence feels good to the leader, but becomes a dangerous trap. The wise leader distances himself from special treatment and looks for way to maintain a humble heart. One such way is to maintain close relationship with God. Compared to God’s greatness, the leader can easily maintain proper perspective of himself. Such perspective is critical if the leader will avoid the fall that pride naturally brings.
