Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 281

  1. “All this I have told you so that you will not go astray” (John 16:1).

“This” has been the justification of impending persecution. It’s coming, and when it does life is not broken. Too many Christians anticipate that their discovery of truth will lead to greater comfort and easy answers to life’s difficult moments. After all, God is on our side, right? But there’s something, or more accurately Someone, deeper at work here. Behind our scenes, there is a war going on. God’s now seemingly everlasting enemy continues his assault on His throne by seeking to destroy those God Himself has claimed. Yes, this enemy will lose in the end, in fact, his defeat has already been sealed. But the day of victory parades has not yet come. For now, the futile fight of this enemy continues to rage.
