Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 229

  1. “By this will all men know you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).

We can’t be Jesus’ disciples if we don’t stay together. Now, there is more here than just a safety-in-numbers idea. Instead, it is in our unity, in our togetherness, that Jesus will reveal His presence. He said that “where two or three are gathered in My name” is the place you would most easily find Him. Only when we love do we reflect His true character and His presence among us. Only then can people see Him in us. Isn’t it interesting that He didn’t equate their message or their miracle works as the evidence of connection, but their love. Can one read the New Testament and emerge with any other priority?
