Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 218

  1. For He knew who was going to betray Him (John 13:11).

What an amazing statement. Jesus knew. Even as He washed Judas’ feet, He knew. Even as He handed Judas the bread that represented His broken body, He knew. Jesus knew what Judas had already done and He knew what He was about to do. And yet, He did nothing to slow down his disciple’s tragic plan. In the same way, Jesus knows our every move as well. He knows the path we’re on and the thoughts that keep us walking it. He loves us and longs for us to trust Him enough to commit to His path, but He doesn’t exercise His power to push us His way. Ours is a choice, just as Judas’ moment was a choice. And our road can prove to be just as tragic if we choose poorly.
