Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 202

  1. “Now the prince of this world will be driven out” (John 12:31).

The end has begun. The words of the Father, heard audibly from the clouds, didn’t merely affirm Jesus and the work He had been doing. Those words announced the launch sequence of a battle plan. The breaking of Satan’s grip on this world was now underway. First, his hold on men’s hearts would be broken by the power of sacrifice–Jesus’ sacrifice for sin. Then the power of God would be poured into the hearts of men and women, equipping them to push back the darkness and proclaim light around the globe. The third phase of this attack mission would ultimately see final victory. Satan will then be finally defeated and his freedom to roam eliminated. The damage he has inflicted will be undone. A new earth will emerge, free of the destruction he had sown. What did the voice say when Jesus called on the Father to glorify himself? “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” He could just as easily have said, “The mission starts now!”
