Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 112

112. Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right judgment (John 7:24).

There’s always more than meets the eye. When we judge situations on a surface level, we seldom get the whole picture. Sure, it’s easier to judge a moment or an individual action on its apparent merits alone, but such judgment lacks wisdom. Those who perceive the larger picture, who look deeper, who think of implications will be slower to judge, but their judgment will likely be more accurate. Jesus reacts to the quick rejection these are willing to extend. If they will just think, they will see that His claimed connection to God is quite evident. Those quick to judge won’t see it.
