Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 103

103. “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).

Here is the ultimate expression of true faith. There is no one else. There is no other way. All other paths prove unsuccessful and unsatisfactory. You…alone. Peter is credited with the later expression “Thou art the Christ,” but that claim didn’t originate in his own thoughts. God put it there. But this statement seems clearly born of his own desperate search. He knows there is no other option like Jesus. Peter has left everything for these moments and he’s not going to turn back just because he’s struggling to grasp some of Jesus’ teaching. He knows Jesus will make the road clear, because he has begun to see that this is why Jesus came. When you know who Jesus is, you have little reason to turn away, even when you don’t understand what He is doing.
