Notes from the Journey with the Disciples – 9

9. The Word became flesh (John 1:14).
This may be the most misunderstood portion of Christ’s mission–He came to demonstrate what God is like and the manner in which God comes to us. The point of John’s prologue is that Jesus is God and no clearer picture of God can be given. Yes, Jesus came to be the sacrifice for our sins, but He first had to demonstrate His capacity to pay that penalty. His sinlessness was essential, but so is His Godhood. For only God could pay the penalty necessary for the judgment He required. He became flesh so we might understand His love, since clearly we had not fully understood His previous efforts.

All we can do is strive to be christ like, but in the end we are only human and God will always love us.
