Notes from the Journey – 128

128. I am the one who has sinned and done wrong. These are but sheep, what have they done (2 Samuel 24:17).

Every leader must face what David faces–the people suffer for his wrong decisions. This is the bane of leadership. Leaders don’t make decisions in a vacuum. Every choice either blesses the people or leads them to hurt. Leaders must recognize the pain that will come to those that follow a failed choice. In this story, David’s failure costs 70,000 people their lives. What an overwhelming reminder that the leader never makes a choice that only affects him. He must keep the entire scope of his leadership in mind as he makes choices for everyone will be affected.
