Notes from the Journey with David -124

124. but he stood his ground and struck down the Philistines… (2 Samuel 23:10).

Mighty men don’t flee when others do. They stand their ground. It’s easy to stay in the fight when things are going well, but when things turn difficult many turn away. Not this warrior. Even when the rest of the army fled, he stood his ground and made a name for himself–battling so long that his hand froze to the sword. The temptation to flee setbacks reveals a lack of inner strength. We think we can run and as long as there are options, we often choose to do so. But true strength is found, not in what we build, but  in what we endure…
