Notes from the Journey with David – 63

63. Here I am living in a palace of wood while the ark of God remains in a tent (2 Samuel 7:2).
David’s statement is absolutely noteworthy. He has built a strong kingdom reflected in the beauty of his palace. Now that the ark of God has come to him, he realizes that he has built his kingdom without thought to building for God. Why do leaders feel they must build for themselves first–then plan to honor God after they have won their battles? David’s reflective question is admirable and will lead him to prepare for his son’s ultimate temple-building effort.
